What is OEC?

• Founded in 1980 as the Ontario Engineering Design
  Competition
• Started with 3 competitions and 56 competitors
• As of 1999, there were 7 competitions and over
  160 competitors
• OEC grows every year

• Currently there are 7 categories
• High School Design
• Team Design
• Corporate Design
• Entrepreneurial Design
• Editorial Communications
• Explanatory Communications
• Parliamentary Debate

OEC 2002

• University of Ottawa Feb. 22nd-24th 2002
• Opening Ceremonies in new SITE (School of
  Information and Technology Engineering) Building
• Competition will take place in the Ottawa
  Congress Center (5 minute walk from campus)

OEC 2002

• Competitors will stay at the downtown Quality
  Hotel (5 minute walk from campus)
• Social Events (likely locations)
• Friday night Byward Market
• Saturday night Hospitality Suite The Nox
• Competition will conclude with final debate held
  in West Block of Parliament Buildings
• Awards Banquet to be held at the Ottawa Congress
  Center
