Here is a dump from a 500 kilos bomb after the
air attack at the Heavy Water plant at Vemork,
600 meters up behind the Rjukan Mountain Cabin

We followed the footsteps of the Saboteurs
through Fjøsbu-dalen where the Saboteurs stayed
the last night before their attack at Vemork on
27th Feb 1943.

Our Cabin
In Fjøsbudalen, four youngsters from Rjukan
arrived at the neighboring cabin. They were
contacted by two of the saboteurs. They got a
good impression of the youngsters and told them a
covering story and NOT to tell anybody about
their meeting before after the war.

Finally a Summary of the Heavy Water Sabotage
1942-44 Phase 1 19. Oct 1942 The advanced
party arrived by parachutes and live up in the
mountains for five months during the cold
winter.Phase 2 19. Nov 1942 3 planes with
34 British Airborne Commandos on mission to
destroy plant, crashed in bad weather.Phase 3
27-28 Febr 43 The Heavy Water Plant
successfully destroyed by 11 Norwegian Saboteurs,
but later on repaired.Phase 4 16. Nov 1943
300 US Bombers attack and destroy power station
during 15 minutes with 711 bombs, each 500
kilos.Phase 5 20. febr 1944 The Ferry
carrying remaining Heavy Water Stocks was
destroyed and sunk on the Lake Tinnsjø.
