1Communication Passport PagesUsing Power Point.
- Click on the start button, go to programmes and
select Power Point. - Open Power Point by going to file on the tool bar
and select new. This will open a new slide. - To create a new presentation and name it after
the child the book is for.
- Click on file go to Save As.
- In the file name box type the name of the child,
then click save. - Click on new slide, top right hand corner and it
will open up slide options.
2Select page style.
- If you want your page to be A4 select the third
slide, title and text. - If you want A5 select the fourth slide layout,
title and two column text. - This will then give you two A5 pages to work
with.
- Click on autoshapes on the bottom tool bar to
select the shape you would like for the passport
page. - Hove the cursor over any of the shape group names
and it will display the selection of shapes under
that name.

- To resize and reposition the shape click on it
and move the cursor on to one of the small
circles around its edge. - Then drag in the direction you want to move it.
- By clicking and dragging different points on the
shape you can choose the position and size and
change it as often as you wish.

4Getting the idea?
- To change the colour of the shape double click in
the shape. This will bring up Format Autoshape
box. - Using this box you can change the colour in the
shape and also the colour and type of outline.
The other changes you can make include size of
shape, position on page and position of text in
the shape.
Please wait until I find the right Symbols ,
otherwise I get really mad.

- Change colour of shape
- Double click on shape takes you to Format
Autoshape box. - From this box you can change colour, click colour
and lines tab. Then click in colour box and
choose colour you want. - Change size click tab and alter size.
- Change position click position tab and alter
numbers

6Hope all is going well so far!
- You can change the text by clicking on Format on
the tool bar at the top of the screen. - Click Font and it will open up the Font Box.
- You can change the font type, style, size and
colour. - If you wish to change existing text highlight it
before accessing Font Box.
To make the pages Fun test can be any colour
you like.
7Computer was selected from more autoshapes.
- Demo page.

- When typing text inside a shape it will start
typing from the middle of the shape. - You will need to press return to move to the next
line of text, as it does not automatically move
down when it has filled the line. - You will need to manually change the capital
letter that appears at the beginning of the new
line if you do not need it. - To move text up within the shape press the return
key.
8Insert picture from computer memory.
- Click Insert on tool bar.
- Click on picture.
- Move across and select from options of
clipart/from file. - File accesses pre-stored pictures form computer.
- Insert Picture Box click LOOK IN and choose
area you need to access - Select picture
- Click insert in bottom right hand corner.
- Position picture as previously described.

experience new cultures and taste new foods.
9Insert page number and print.
- To insert page number click on insert on tool bar
and click slide number. - De-select everything, except slide number.
- Click apply or apply to all if you have a number
of pages. - Print click on file move to page set-up and make
sure it is set on the right orientation e.g.
Portrait/landscape. - Click print this will give you full-size page per
A4 sheet.
10IMPORTANT.
- Save the page as you make each change, so you do
not loose all your work. - Add as much or as little as you want to each
page. - Try to organise it in topic areas.
- Try to make contents age appropriate for the
person. - Make it more personal by writing it in the first
person. E.g. I like to listen to music.
11Other points to consider.
- As much as possible negotiate the contents of the
passport with the person. - It is a personal document of their likes,
dislikes and needs, permission should be asked
before looking at it. - The passport needs to grow and change to suit the
persons needs at that particular stage in their
life. - Family members/carers and other significant
people in the persons life should be encouraged
to help with the development of the passport.
