  • An Introspective Quest

Purpose
  • In traditional research processes, students find
    information related to a general topic.
  • The students frequently struggle with
    synthesizing the information into a fresh
    perspective, which can lead to plagiarism.

Description
  • In the I-Search process, students create a
    research question that drives their information
    gathering.
  • Next, the students come up with a plan for their
    research.
  • Then, the students find information that answers
    their question and record the facts while also
    recording their thoughts/reactions to the new
    information they learned.

Findings
  • The students then write a paper that tells the
    journey of their I-Search. The paper explains
  • Why the topic was chosen
  • Story of the students search
  • What the student found
  • How the student answered the question or solved
    the problem
  • Last, the students create a final product that
    can be shared in a final presentation of what
    they learned.
