What the Grizzly Bear Looks Like

• Grizzly bears measure 3-5 feet tall.
• Adult grizzly bears weigh 600pounds.
• Their claws are 10 centimeters long.
• Their teeth are about 3 inches long.

• Grizzlies have huge back and shoulder muscles.
• Grizzly bears can have brown, blond, or black
  fur.
• Grizzly bears have white or silver coloring on
  the tips of there fur.

• A grizzlys sight, is better than a humans
  sight.
• A grizzlys smell is better than a humans smell.

• A grizzlys hearing is much better than a humans
  hearing.
• Grizzlies can run up to 35miles per hours

Where The Grizzly Bear Lives

• Today 40,000 to 50,000 grizzlies live in Alaska
  and Canada.
• Some 600 to 800 bears live in Montana, Wyoming,
  Washington, and Ohio.

• Grizzlies live in the wilderness areas such as
  mountains, forests and prairies

Communication and Behavior

• Grizzly bears try to avoid other bears.
• Adult grizzlies growl and roar to scare each
  other away.
• Grizzly bears like to be left alone.

• Grizzlies hibernate in winter.
• To survive winter, grizzlies eat large amounts of
  food during summer and fall.

How a Grizzly Bear Survives

• Grizzly bears are omnivores which means that they
  eat both meat and plants.
• They eat grass, nuts, berries, and roots.
• They also eat salmon, weak buffalo, deer and
  young elk.

• Grizzlies eat 25-35 pounds of food a day!
• A Grizzly is aided in survival by its speed,
  thick fur and sharp teeth and claws.

Life Cycle

• Grizzly bear cubs are born in a cave or a den.
• To create a bed parents pull in branches, sticks
  and grass.
• Grizzly cubs are born in late January.
• Usually they have 2-3 cubs at time.

• Female bears are hibernating when the cubs are
  born.
• The cubs stay with their moms till they are 3
  years old.
• The cubs leave their territories and begin their
  lives as an adult when they are 7.
