• The system functions by analyzing user input to
  generate the feasible Nurse shift schedules.

• Sometimes we must schedule more than one nurse
  per shift.
• By the contract with the nurses, a nurse cannot
  work more than one shift per day.
• Nurses have personal constraints on which shifts
  they cannot work, and these constraints may
  change from day to day.
• By the contract with the nurses, a nurse cannot
  work shifts on subsequent days unless at 2 shifts
  intervene.

• Management prefers not to schedule a nurse to
  subsequent 3rd shifts.
• Management prefers not to schedule a nurse to
  subsequent 1st shifts.
• Management wants to minimize total cost.

• Step 1 User Enters values for Shift pay rate,
  Number of Nurses Needed, Previous day
  assignments, Nurse blocked shifts.
• Step 2 User Clicks a Compute Icon to begin the
  feasible schedule computation process.

• The secret behind the compute button involves
  macros a rule or pattern that specifies how a
  certain input sequence should be mapped to an
  output sequence according to a defined procedure.

• This macro and others like it are written for
  Microsoft Office in VB, using Visual Basic for
  Applications (VBA).
• Basically, macros speed up and automate
  repetitive tasks.

  Worksheets
• Overview WorksheetGives users an overview of the
  tool purpose and basic use.
• User Instructions WorksheetInstructs user on how
  to use the tool.

  where the user must input data (Pay shift rate,
  Number of Nurses needed, Previous day

  assignments for all three shifts.
