  Freshmen and Sophomore WISE students

Why is the ICC important?

• The Internship and Career Center at UC Davis
  was established to provide students with many
  services. By drawing in students in during their
  beginning years it allows them to understand what
  the ICC has to offer down the road. I chose to
  discuss only 2 that would be beneficial to first
  and second year students.

Student Advisors

• The Student Advisors are here to provide all
  students with any support or guidance they may
  need to help them throughout their time at UC
  Davis.

• Student Advisors are available to critique
  resumes, answer questions about the different EPS
  Majors, help prepare you for interviews and
  assist you with your job search.

Self Assessments

• One of the toughest decisions in life is
  pursuing and deciding on career opportunities.
  Assessing yourself will assist you in matching
  your personality, interests, and skills to
  particular professions or jobs.

Career Decision Making Class

• This course, especially designed for
  sophomores, is offered during Winter quarter and
  will help you understand and apply career
  development theories and practices. Get to know
  yourself and select the career that is right for
  you!

• MyRoad helps you identify your strengths and
  interests and set goals. Discover which majors
  and careers match your interests and learning
  styles.

Elevations

• Elevations is a career discovery tool to assess
  your values, skills, career interests and
  personality to see how your aspirations and
  abilities fit into the world of work.

• By using different self assessments I have
  learned that they help you to understand whether
  a certain profession would be suitable for your
  personality and interests. It is worth your time
  to take a sit and learn a little more about
  yourself. It is very useful when all the
  information is given to you in one place and you
  dont have to go search for it saving you time
  and the trouble of looking.

What Have I Learned From This Project?

• Understand what ICC is and what is has to
  offer..
• There are many things like the ICC that supports
  students in their specific major..
• We need more support for women in Engineering
  because the number of women in science and
  engineering majors are still low..
• For future incoming WISE students my advice would
  be to get out there and look at what the campus
  has to offer. Stay strong and show everyone that
  women can do it to!
