10Expanded Medical Capacity
- For 330 funded FQHCs only.
- Addition of new medical patients.
- Existing target population within existing
service area. - In past years, up to 600,000 per year in ongoing
operational support. - CAUTION! Funding amounts and grant requirements
are subject to change annually.
11Expanded Medical Capacity
- Patient base and number of encounters remained
steady or increased over past three years. - Propose to significantly increase patient base
over two-year EMC project period. - A significant increase is defined as a minimum
increase of 25 of your total patient base over
two years, or 3,000 new patients over two years,
whichever is less.

Funding?
- A FQHC Look-Alike that has doubled their patient
base in the past 2 years (NO) - A 330-funded health center showing a dramatic
increase in their dental patient base (NO) - A 330-funded health center that is proposing to
add 3,000 new patients over two years (YES) - A 330-funded health center that is proposing to
add 2,500 new patients, a 30 increase in their
current medical patient base (YES)

- Adding or expanding non-medical services.

pharmacy program for migrant farmworkers (NO) - Service area lacks mental health providers (YES)
- Add more medical patients (NO)
- Add more dentists to existing dental program

16New Access Point Funding
- Start up a new health center, OR for new
satellite site - For NAP satellite applications, you may NOT
- Propose funding to support relocation of a
site(s) - Propose expansion of capacity at any site already
in your approved scope of project

- Strategic opportunity to increase revenues
- Used to add a new site, re-locate to a larger
facility, or add a new service - Cost-based reimbursement rate no federal grant
dollars - Services can include mental health, oral health,
specialty medical care
18American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009
- 2 billion for grants to health centers over two
years - Grants will be awarded for
- Construction, repair and renovation of
facilities, - Acquisition of equipment, and
- Adoption or expansion of the use of health
information technology systems.
