CECE Machine Industry

• Machines are low volume compared to cars and
  trucks
• Machines are sold globally, with the major
  manufacturers located in Asia, Europe and US
• These facts create a need for global
  harmonization/ standards/legislation to avoid
  producing different machine models for different
  markets.

Vibrations directive a bad example of
legislation

• Complicated to make measurements of vibrations
  with comparable and representative results
  causing different interpretation of legal
  requirements in MS, depending on unclear
  legislation.
• Lack of standardized ways of making measurements
• Must be based on scientific knowledge and
  cost-benefit aspects
• Gives very little guidance for manufacturers

CECE Technical Commission Duties

• Harmonization of national regulations to remove
  technical barriers to trade, improve safety
  standards and the environmental aspects of
  construction machinery
• Promotion of international standards and safety
  regulations in co-operation with ISO and CEN
• Development of test procedures and nomenclatures
• Product liability issues
• Promotion of R D projects
