Title: Monthly exam for November:

1
Monthly exam for November Respecting parents
is a traditional virtue of our Chinese culture.
It is closely connected with the building of a
harmonious society. However, nowadays many
children care about themselves only, taking
their parents love as a sure thing. I think that
as children we should thank and respect our
parents. We can do many things, such as giving
our best wishes to them on their birthday, asking
them for advice before making an important
decision, talking to them about our school life
and so on.
2
As we all know, respecting parents is a
long-cherished traditional virtue of Chinese
people which has been handed down from generation
to generation. It has much to do with the
building up of a harmonious society. However, the
majority of the young people nowadays who are the
only child in their respective families take
their parents love for granted and care about
themselves only, leaving their parents neglected.
To change this situation, I think, we children
should learn to be grateful and show our love and
respect to our parents. In fact, there are
numerous ways to do this, such as celebrating
our parents birthdays, asking them for advice
before making an important decision, talking to
them about our school life and so on.

Summary As is
stated in the passage above, more Americans are
caught in worries during holidays which are
related to property safety, ill manners of other
holiday-makers, accidents in trips and even
weather conditions.
4
The passage suggests that most American
people feel more worried when they are on
holidays because of burglary, noisy tourists,
possession missing, broken down cars, bad weather
and so on.

From my point of view, nobody can be
free from worry, for ones ability is limited and
it is impossible for one to cope with everything
effortlessly. Some people live a miserable life
due to endless worries while some others are
capable of putting their worries under control.
6
I consider worries as a necessary part of
life and deal with it in a positive way. To
avoid being trapped in worries, you will find
that the following suggestions may be of help.
First of all, learn to speak out your worries,
release the pressure on your mind
7
and ask for help. Please be aware that you can
always find someone to depend on. Second, make a
practical plan whenever you need to start to do
something, imagine the problems and think of
possible solutions. Third, make sure that your
expectations are based on reality, otherwise you
are
8
looking for trouble. For example, never wish
to have a ride on the roller coaster without
queuing. Lastly, focus your mind on good things
of life instead of being tortured by worries. You
are not born to suffer, so why not stop worrying
and become optimistic?

It is indeed annoying if you have to worry
about the security of your house when you are
away on holiday. The best solution, which is
constantly applied by our family, is to ask a
trustworthy friend for help. With your friends
attention to your house during that specific
period of time, You can certainly concentrate
more on the pleasure of your trip. Another
major tension, on the other hand, comes
11
from the safety and enjoyment of our own trip.
When travelling, we tend to expect pleasant days
with interesting people. Nevertheless, the
reality is sometimes the opposite. In this case,
all we can do is to adjust our mood and try to
think of some happy things. In addition, we
should protect ourselves from hidden dangers
around us in the travelling. With the
solving of those common worries above, I believe
we can enjoy our holidays to a larger extent.
