  • Health Initiatives
  • 2.5 million has been provided for immediately
    improving clinical and medical imaging equipment
    across all Pilbara Hospitals
  • 38.244 million has been provided for the Pilbara
    Health Partnership, a joint arrangement between
    WA Country Health Service (32.964 million state
    contribution) and industry through the Pilbara
    Industrys Community Council (5.28 million
    industry contribution)

  • The Pilbara Underground Power Project looks to
    deliver underground power to the coastal towns of
    South Hedland, Roebourne, Karratha and Onslow.
  • 35 million of Royalties for Regions funding has
    been approved towards Stage One of the project.

  • Water Initiatives
  • Pilbara water resources will play an important
    role in the regions future economic
    diversification.
  • Government completed a Prefeasibility Study in
    May 2009 investigating water supply options and
    opportunities.
  • 2.5 million under the Royalties for Regions
    Pilbara Revitalisation Plan Phase One has been
    allocated to test some of these opportunities.

    crime and safety prevention initiatives in Port

  • Strategic Direction - Future Initiatives
  • The Pilbara Development Commission will lead
    development of Phase Two.
  • Will be dedicated to support initiatives to be
    developed between the various community,
    industry, state and federal agencies and
    indigenous groups.
  • Intended to support new measures arising from
    future regional studies and regional planning.
    These may include opportunities for industry
    diversification, indigenous participation,
    cultural enhancement and infrastructure
    development.

  • Outside of the Pilbara Revitalisation Plan
  • 23.3 million has been allocated to LandCorp for
    the South Hedland Town Revitalisation project
    over two stages.

  • 10 million has been allocated to WA Country
    Health Service for a package of urgent upgrades
    to the Nickol Bay Hospital including
  • the boosting of obstetric services and
