  • I would really like to make LGE a truly
globalized company obsessed with Value Creation.
  • Id like to see many more executives chosen from
our overseas subsidiaries. Id even like to see
    many foreign executives in Korea.
  • LGE should be Global Top 3 in what?
  • Shareholder returns, profitability, growth,
    revenue, market share
  • How can we achieve the Global Top 3?
  • Value creation for Shareholders, Customers, and
    Employees
  • Each organization inside LGE must ask key
questions to ensure we create value in all of
    these areas.

Details of GMM 2007
Opening Session
Why We Need Value Creation at LG Electronics
To start the GMM 2007, the CEO, Yong Nam, first
gave his keynote speech in which he challenged
leaders to make LGE a truly global organization
that is obsessed with value creation. Next, the
CFO reviewed the 2006 results and 2007 business
targets. He emphasized the need for careful
evaluation
of funds in all activities. Finally, the morning
session wrapped up with a lecture by Professor W.
Chan Kim, author of the Blue Ocean Strategy book.
He discussed the need for value creation for LGE
and was very passionate in his explanation of how
LGE should produce this value.
.
Action Meeting
How to Make an LGE Obsessed with Value Creation
The main event of the GMM 2007, the Action
Meeting, began after lunch on the first day and
continued until lunch on the second day. The
leaders split into smaller groups based on region
or affiliation inside LGE. Then all of the
leaders discussed and set out a plan for how to
make LGE a truly global
company that is obsessed with value creation.
The leaders worked late into the night and then
started their meeting again, early in the
morning, to finish their plans and prepare a
presentation to share with their colleagues.
The CEO toured each meeting room to coach groups
and comment on the plans. During the afternoon on
the second day, the CEO chose five teams to
present results of their meetings to all leaders.
In his comments about the Action Meeting, the CEO
emphasized the need for a more interactive
company. .

It was a good experience for leaders in LGE to be
in touch with other leaders all around the world.
We were able to share and study best practices in
the Action Meeting.

-Jose Pitti, Sales Director (LGEPS)
Open Communication
An Interactive Company Will Facilitate Value
Creation
Throughout the GMM 2007 events, the CEO provided
many chances to discuss issues and ask questions.
During a large part of the Action Meeting, the
CEO, Yong Nam, conducted many sessions of
Dialogue with the CEO. He conducted one-to-one
coaching sessions with many of the executives
during the Action Meeting on the first day. Then
he conducted two hour-long dialogues with groups
of the foreign leaders in attendance. This gave
him a chance to meet these leaders, discuss key
issues in LGE, and answer any of their questions.
Later on in the afternoon on the second day, all
of
the participating leaders had another chance to
ask the CEO various questions during an Open
Communication Lunch. The CEO fielded questions
and comments on a variety of topics for over an
hour. These meetings showed his commitment to
ensuring that a lively dialogue occurs inside the
company. .

The event allowed for a great, free exchange of
ideas from every part of LGEs global world. With
the commitment shownI see LGE driving ahead in
each subsidiary.

-Graham Southern, Sales Director (LGEUK)
