SHA Comments
Updating existing comment no significant
changes to format for the final declaration
(but will need to do so for the
future). Collation of comments from
SHA colleagues (Performance, Networks,
Infection Control, Cancer etc) to be completed by
the 3 March 2006.

SHA Comments Cont
Will be visiting all Trusts with the
draft comments between 6 24 March. Final sign
off of comments by the SHA by the 4 April
2006. All Trusts will receive their SHA comments
by the 7 April 2006.

Declaration
During February the Healthcare Commission will be
in contact with the nominated person within the
Trusts to confirm who will be completing the
form. Final declaration form should be available
the first week of March on their website. You
are expected to publish your final declaration by
Friday 12 May 2006.

Declaration Cont
If you choose not to publish your
final declaration the Healthcare Commission
will indicate it has not been shared with the
local community and publish it on their own
website.

Improvement Reviews
Results from the reviews will be published as
an interactive report. You will need specific
software Instant Atlas an Adobe application,
which is free. Advanced notice will be given so
Trusts can ensure they have the software. The
first reports are expected to be published
in April 2006.

Guidance to PPI OSC
New guidance issued in January 2006. Encourage
to comment at a domain level or more specifically
at a standard level. Ideally each comment should
only relate to one standard. Encouraged to
identify and state which standard the comment is
referring to.

No guidance has been issued to SHAs yet,
but likely to be similar.

Inspections
Both announced and unannounced inspection will
focus on the adequacy of the evidence that has
been used by the Trust to assure themselves. Heal
thcare Commission will not prescribe
what evidence a Trust should hold Its up to
the Trust to ensure there is a robust
and appropriate audit trail of evidence.

This can either be by paper or electronic. If an
inspection tales place the Healthcare Commission
will want copies of the evidence for their records

Rating
Trusts will be scored according to the numbers of
compliances. Insufficient evidence and not met
will score equally. More information coming out
in Feb/ March 2006.

Developmental Standards
Likely to look at in 2006/07 Clinical and Cost
Effectiveness in relation to stroke, cancer,
coronary heart disease, mental health and
RD. Patient Focus in relation to the handling
of complaints.

Not looking at until 2007/08 Care Environment
and amenities Governance Patient
Focus Accessible and responsive care.

comprehensive risk assessments Consider was it a

to set the declaration into the organisational
