  • The Concept
  • Looking at the way that all resources are
displayed and managed within VLEs (WebCT) and
how this process can be better managed for all
    parties.
  • Changing the way that reading lists are
managed, presented and delivered to students.
ANY RESOURCE CAN BE A LINK
  • Creating a layered, flexible approach that
caters for Lecturers at different stages in
    course development.
  • Central storage, distributed maintenance.

Course compilers will be able to
  • LINK to stored resource lists from own (or
    Departmental) online course information for
students, and include links that will retrieve
resource lists as HTML, with personal choice of
    formatting and style.
  • CREATE a detailed interactive resource list - by
week, topic, author etc.   A simple search will
create a ready formatted list that can be placed
directly into the right place in an online
course.  This list may include appropriate access
icons explaining the availability of the
information, and will be centrally maintained so
that location and other detail changes can be
    easily updated.  Resources may include
  • The Library Catalogue Items
  • Subject Resource Collections
  • Appropriate Past Exam Papers
  • E-Coursepack Items
  • Multimedia Resources

15
Course compilers will be able to
  • EDIT resource lists with comments and additional
information specific to the course. This may
include notes about the reading, suggested ideas
or information about how readings will be used in
    tutorials.
  • RECOMMEND resources to be included in central
    repositories.  This could potentially be
available to staff and students, with mediated
    decisions about resource inclusion.
  • ORDER resources and UPDATE resources lists at the
same time, and from a central location.
Information will be forwarded to the correct
    department for processing.
