Title: Assembly Drawings in Inventor

1
Assembly Drawingsin Inventor
  • Lesson 12, Part 1
  • Detail Parts

2
Inventor Assembly
  • Bi-Directional Full Associative Functionality
  • Direct Adaptive Assembly

3
Assembly Approaches
  • Bottom Up Parts already created (as we will do
    in this lesson)
  • Top Down Define the Assembly First and then
    Work on Parts
  • Middle Out Some parts defined, others added as
    work progresses (Spring Quarter Design-Build)

4
Inventor Lesson 12
  • Create individual parts first, make detail layout
    (this presentation)
  • Then do the Assembly (future presentation)
  • Use Place Constraints Mate, Angle, Tangent,
    Insert
  • Use Base-Plate as "Base" component
  • Add Bearing Use "Mate" Twice
  • Add Collar Use "Insert"
  • Add 2 Cap Screws Use ???

Base-Plate Creation
  • Use XY as the sketch plane
  • Put Origin at the Middle of the Bottom Surface

Assignment
  • Base Plate (This is "Detail 1" that you create)
  • Follow hints given in this presentation
  • Is Origin in Bottom Center?
  • Collar (This is "Detail 2" that you create)
  • Is Origin in Bottom Center?

15
Save These Detail Parts
  • We will do the assembly drawing in Inventor soon
consisting of the Base Plate, the Collar, the
    Bearing, and the Cap Screws
  • In the next few days, there will be additional
    lecture(s) on Assembly
  • Make a layout drawing of each detail part using
the "default" drawing titleblock. Turn in layout
    drawing, not solid model drawing.

Other Needed Parts
  • Bearing (Provided - available on H drive)
  • Put Origin in the Middle of the Bottom Surface
  • Draw Base on YZ Plane and Extrude Up
  • Cap-Screws (Provided - available on H drive)
  • Need Constraints to Construct Arc for Screw Head
