2What Is A Myth?
Myths are stories that people tell to explain
their beliefs about their lives and the world
around them. In addition to that, the myths
tell us how the world and the creatures in it
managed to have their present form. The
active characters in myths are generally gods and
heroes.
3The bird that flies
- Long time ago, in
- ancient days, birds had
- no wings and thus
- could not fly. An old
- lady, who lived in
- distant village, owned
- a bird. The lady was
- cureless ill.
4The bird cared about the old lady and asked the
god of Magic, called Magicuous, for help.
Magicuous knew to do lots of amazing tricks,
for example he caused cats to be afraid of mice,
he caused to Seeds to become trees in a minute
and he could make sick people become healthy.
5While Magicuous saw how the old lady suffered and
how the bird cared about the lady, he decided to
help. Magicuous told the bird that the lady could
only recover if the bird brought her the juice
from the health flowers which grew on the top of
the highest mountain. Moreover, the health
flowers are protected by a scary giant who
tortured everybody who tried to collect health
flowers.
6Because of that, the bird asked Magicuous to help
it to climb the mountain. Magicuous did his magic
and gave the bird wings. Due to Magicuous, the
bird flew to the top of the mountain, tricked the
giant and collected health flowers. Finally, the
bird flew back to the old lady's house, squeezed
the flowers and gave the juice to the lady. The
old lady recovered and since then birds
have wings.
7The myth about the bird tells the story of how
birds got their wings. The myth shows that the
goodness of one bird made the God of magic -
Magicuous to give birds wings. The first wings
help the one good bird to save the life of an old
lady.
