    type and size fastener for the job.

    commonly used fasteners.

NAILS
  • Nails come in many types and sizes.
  • Identified by penny size
  • Types of nails include common, finishing, casing,
    duplex, roofing, and masonry.
  • A nail can be driven by face nailing, toe
    nailing, and clinching.
  • If you bend a nail, pull it out and start over.

SCREWS
  • Use screws for extra holding power and for things
    you will need to disassemble.
  • A job may call for drywall, sheet metal, lag, or
    particleboard screws.
  • Screws may come with a Phillips head, slot head,
    bugle head, or square head
  • Match the right screwdriver to the screw.

BOLTS
  • Bolts have a high holding strength.
  • The types of bolts include cap bolts, stove
    bolts, and carriage bolts.
  • Washers are often used with bolts to help hold
    things securely.
