Fundamental Pollution Prevention Strategies

• Identify where pollution and waste are generated
• Develop understanding of process and product
  needs
• Quantify generation, issues, and costs
• Assist in generation of pollution prevention plan
• Develop alternatives such as reduction,
  replacement, reuse, recycle and process
  modification

Specific Pollution Prevention Strategies

• Establish written clean-up procedures for
  accidental spills
• Do not evaporate containerized volatile liquid
  wastes as a means of waste disposal
• Keep containers of VOC materials closed when not
  in use
• Do not vent toxic gases from pressurized storage
  cylinders as a method of disposal , unless vented
  through a Department-approved gas disposal system

  means of incentives.

  of pollution prevention, implement a Pollution
