Realistic Fiction
  • A story that can actually happen and is set in
    present-day, dealing with modern and true-to-life
    problems and issues.
  • These stories can be funny, dramatic,
    suspenseful, sad, etc

Fantasy
  • These stories suspend reality and contain
    characters and settings that are unrealistic and
    other worldly.
  • An example of this would be animals that have
    human characteristics or beings that possess
    magical powers.

  • A story where the characters and plot are set
    during a period in history and correctly portray
    life at that time.
  • An example would be stories set during World War
    II, the Civil War, or the Great Depression.

  • These stories revolve around a suspenseful event,

  • The plot allows the characters/reader to follow
    the clues and secrets that will solve the mystery
    by the end of the story.

  • These type of stories are written for

  • These stories are meant to instruct and educate
    the reader on the specifics of a topic, such as

    real people over the years.
  • There are many types of Folktales including Tall
    Tales, Myths, Fables, Proverbs, Songs, and Fairy

    rhyme, that creates imagery and expresses
    emotion.
  • These can be funny, serious, lyrical, or
