Title: Atmospheric inputs affecting the farming system

1
Atmospheric inputs affecting the farming system
  • 6A (27) NG CHUN FAI

2
Inputs
  • Solar energy
  • Temperature
  • Humidity and rainfall
  • Wind
  • Other atmospheric input

3
Solar energy(sunshine)
  • Solar energy become more when it is near the
    equator and change with seasons.
  • Photosynthesis
  • Farmers will decisions under different
    condition..
  • Good sunshine helps lower the moisture content of
    grain crops.
  • For China and Hong Kong, they have subtropical
monsoon climate and high solar energy,
vegetables, fruit and rice are main farm
    produces.

4
  • For Australia, solar energy is less important
because it aims at both wheat growing and sheep
    rearing.
  • Too much sunshine may interrupt the grow of
    crops.

5
Temperature
  • 18-25C
  • Different crops and animals need temperature
    requirement.
  • For example
  • rubber-equatorial temperature
  • sugar beet-cool temperature.
  • Too low temperature may kill the tissues of crops
and too high temp. no rains may cause
    drought.(Australia)

6
Humidity and rainfall
  • Low humidity is bad to plants.
  • Rain can be used for irrigation.
  • Too much rain may cause flooding.
  • (when typhoon comes,it bring a lot of rain
water and always cause flooding in S.China and
    N.T in Hong Kong)

Wind
  • Wind is also important to farming.
  • Strong wind may lead to structural damage, soil
erosion as the rate of evapotranspiration
increase.Animals need to eat more food to avoid
    loss of body heat.
  • Light wind carries carbon dioxide to plants.

9
Other inputs
  • Burning of trees for shifting cultivation bring
ash. (example are those people who live in TRF)
  • Nitrogen
