Step One
  • Begin your sentence with a capital letter.
  • Remember ALL SENTENCES BEGIN WITH A CAPITAL
    LETTER!

  • Make sure the sentence has a noun.
  • What is a noun? A noun tells who does the action.
    It can be a person, place, or thing.

  • Make sure the sentence has a verb.
  • What is a verb? A verb tells what the noun is
    doing.

The man is playing a saxophone.

Step Four
  • Make sure the sentence ends with punctuation.
  • What is punctuation? A punctuation mark is what
    goes at the ending. It can be a period, question
    mark, or an exclamation point.

NOW..
  • Go back and make sure you began your sentence
    with a capital letter.

AND THEN.
  • Go back and make sure that you ended your
    sentence with a punctuation mark. Did you use a
    period, question mark, or exclamation point?

Lets Make a Sentence
  • There are three types of sentences.
  • 1. Telling - tells you something
  • 2. Asking - need information
  • 3. Exciting show emotion

Telling Sentences
  • Telling sentences end with a period.
  • This is a period (.).
  • Remember, telling sentences always tells you
    something.

Asking Sentences
  • Asking sentences end with a question mark.
  • This is a question mark (?).
  • Remember, asking sentences always need
    information.

Exciting Sentences
  • Exciting sentences end with an exclamation point.
  • This is an exclamation point (!).
  • Remember, exciting sentences always show emotion.

  • Now, get out a sheet of paper and write 3
    sentences 1 asking, 1 telling, and 1 exciting.
  • Make sure you have a capital letter, a noun, a
