Wrestling
  • The 1970s were the youthful years of the

  • Although wrestling did not have a large amount of
people that were willing to join the teams, there
was large student participation at matches.
  • Wrestling always had large audiences at matches.

4
Baseball
  • The baseball field was combined with the football
field at the time so the quality of the field was
    very bad.
  • The quality of the jerseys were extremely low and
new jerseys were not purchased every year.
  • Baseball was a really popular sport.

5
Track and field
  • Track was also a popular sport.
  • In the 1970s, track and field teams still
participated in events such as hammer toss and
the javelin throw, before they became illegal to
    use in high schools.
  • The hammer toss is a sport that involves throwing
a steel ball attached to a strong cord. The
thrower holds a handle on the opposite end of the
rope from the ball. He then spins and throws the
hammer, the length of the throw is then measured.

Popular Clubs
  • Sharp shooting club
  • Archery club
  • Riding club

7
Sharpshooting club
  • In the 1970s students were permitted to fire
guns on school grounds and in some cases bring
their own guns to school. For most other
students, rifles were provided by the school.
  • This was allowed due to low gun tensions.

8
Archery club
  • The archery club was a club based around becoming
more accurate while firing bows, cross bows and
    the less popular fletching launchers.
  • A fletching launcher is a small cross bow that
fires thin pointed rods constructed entirely of
metal, fletching are differed from arrows due to
the fact that a fletching is quite a bit smaller
than a regulation arrow and unlike an arrow a
fletching is one piece where as an arrow has a
    removable tip.
