• The Vietnam Women's Memorial is a memorial
  dedicated to the women of the United States who
  served in the Vietnam War, most of whom were
  nurses. It is part of the Vietnam Veterans
  Memorial, and is located on the Mall in
  Washington DC.

The Sculpture Means

• Three uniformed women with a wounded soldier.
  While one nurse comforts the soldier, another
  kneels in thought or prayer. The third looks to
  the skies - for help from a medevac helicopter,
  or perhaps from a higher power.

• Diane Carlson Evans, who served as a nurse in the
  army during the Vietnam War, initiated the drive
  to add the bronze sculpture to the Vietnam
  Veterans Memorial.

• The Vietnam Womens War Memorial was designed by
  Glenna Goodacre and dedicated on November 11,
  1993.

• Glenna Goodacre is a sculptor best known for
  having designed the Sacagawea Dollar that entered
  circulation in the United States in 2000. She
  also designed the Vietnam Women's Memorial
  located in Washington, D.C.

  York City.
• She graduated from Colorado college.
• She was initated as a member of Kappa Alpha Theta
