The structure and the calendar of our work
  • We started the project work with our students in
    November 2006.
  • There were art workshops for creating Christmas
    cards with students.
  • These Christmas cards were send then to the
    partner schools.

Other project activities - TESTS
  • During January and February were translated the
    activity description and tests from English into
    Romanian and Hungarian
  • We have chosen two themes from the four VALUES
    and INTERESTS.
  • We worked this year with the 7th and 8th grade
    students, so we prepared the tests and activities
    in these grades.
  • We have been working during March and April with
    a number of 30 students.

Values in general
  • First we prepared or adopted according to
    descriptions and tests in English a suitable test
    package about VALUES.
  • The first test or activity contained the
    following questions
  • Which values do you consider important in school?
    They had a chart with 10 values and they had to
    mark each one from 1 to 4 (1 meaning the lowest
    and 4 the highest importance).
  • Which 3 values form above do you think are the
    most important? They had to mark those 3 which
    they considered the most important.

  • The following values were mostly appreciated by
    students
  • Admiration from the teachers 80
  • Working in a group 40
  • Knowing new people 50
  • Being able to help others 60

  • After we were talking about what values are in
    general we wanted to know what do our students
    know about professional values. First we talked
    about professions. This is a very important
    problem in the 8th grade because the students
    have to decide which school to attend for their
    future.

  • The test about professional values had the
    following questions or activities
  • What do you think, what values must have the
    following professionals? (there is a chart with
    14 professions listed and the students have to
    identify what kind of values do these people have
    to have).
  • Do you think that our values we will have
    forever? (they had to tell their opinion)
  • Imagine, that you are 16 or 17 years old What
    kind of values will you have? (opinion)

VALUES - Results and conclusions
  • The students (some of them) cant identify the
    term value, what is a value, what importance does
    a value has. They have in their passive
    vocabulary the words that describe values (like
    honour or reliability) but it is very dificult
    for them to identify as a value.
  • We tried to help during the activity , telling
    them to think on adjectives which describe people
    (like honest or reliable). Asking them What
    describes a person who is honest or reliable?
    HONOUR and RELIABILITY.

  • The activity about interests contains 2 tests or
    a test and an activity.
  • First the students were asked about their
    interests, about the activities which they like
    to do.
  • What interests do you have? (It is a chart with
    20 activities, the students have to evaluate each
    of these activities giving points from 1 to 3 / 1
    meaning the lowest and 3 the highest importance)

  • Choose 2 activities from the chart that you like
    the most and give reasons why? (they have to
    chose 2 activities and tell, why do they like to
    do that activity?)
  • The second part of the activity, the practical
    one was an interview.
  • (The students had to make interviews with their
    classmates each students had to imagine
    themselves in a profession that they would like
    to do in the future. )

  • Why did you choose this job or profession?
  • What do you like in your job/profession?
  • What did you want to be when you were a child?
  • Whats the difficulty in your job/profession (if
    there is)?
  • What dont you like in your job/profession?
  • What is the responsibility in your
    job/profession?
  • If you had been able, would you choose? Etc.

  • Making friends
  • Listening to music
  • Animals
  • Computer
  • Dancing
  • Just 2 of the students has chosen reading and
    foreign languages

  • About the interview.
  • we had different occupations/profession what the
    students have chosen, like vet, IT professional,
    dancer, musician, teacher, painter, electrician,
    builder, etc.

Conclusions
  • VALUES are very important and especially to
    identify them because it helps to build a healthy
    personality and on the other hand with the help
    of values we can choose our professions in a
    better way, so it helps to bulid our future.

Other activities - Laboratories
  • Eco laboratory students prepared different kind
    of objects from unrecyclable materials and also
    natural materials during their biology classes.
  • Music laboratory students has chosen a song, a
    melody and they have written lyrics for the
    melody about the friendship ( in Romanian and
    also Hungarian)
