• The Calgary Humane society is a place that ABUSED
  or animals that are UN-CARED for, find safe homes.

History of the Calgary Humane Society

• The Calgary Humane Society was established in
  1922 by a group of people that decided animal
  rights should happen, and it was approved by the
  Government
• There were very few animals in the shelter when
  it started.
• The Calgary Humane Society keeps growing and more
  animals keep coming in.

Current Facility

• The current facility of the Calgary Humane
  Society opened in September 2007. It is ten times
  larger than the old facility.

  for the humane treatment of animals across a
  broad spectrum of human/animal interaction.

Animals

• The Calgary Humane society takes in numerous
  types of animals. Even venomous reptiles!!!!!!!

Cats Dogs

• Thousands of cats and dogs come to The Humane
  Society every year
• Cats dogs come in numerous breeds
• Cats dogs are very smart

Small Animals

• The Humane Society takes in many types of small
  animals, like mice, hamsters, rabbits,
  chinchillas, ferrets and even birds.

Reptiles spiders

• Spiders are often thought of as insects, but they
  come from a family named arachnids.
• Snakes are a specie that come in big litters and
  have many of their kind.
• Lizards are animals that can only live in hot
  environments. If they are in your house they need
  a special heat lamp.

Wildlife

• Wild animals often need help too. The Humane
  Society cannot take in wildlife, but they can
  refer you to Wildlife Rehabilitation Centers and
  veterinarians who can help.
• If you find injured wildlife call The Humane
  Society.

Pet Gear Store

• The Calgary Humane Society has a store called Pet
  Gear.
• They sell things such as Bowls, collars, food,
  and much more.

Cruelty Neglect

• Its so horrible what some owners do to their
  animals.
• They abuse them and may kill them or severely
  injure them.

Diet

• Animals need a healthy diet to stay fit. If
  animals have to much to eat or too little to eat
  then they have a higher risk of dying sooner.

Education Programs

• The Humane Society educates others on how to take
  care of animals, and what to do if in an
  emergency.
• The Humane society also educates potential owners
  on how to choose an animal to fit their
  lifestyles.

Spaying/Neutering

• SNIP! Spay or Neuter - It's a Priority
• If youre animal is an outdoor animal then it is
  important that you spay or neuter your pet to
  prevent unwanted babies.
• It makes pets more sociable. They are calmer and
  happier to stay home with their humans. If you
  have more than one pet it will help them get
  along better.

Lost Found

• The Calgary humane society finds lost animals
  sometimes.
• 1. Try to find owner.
• 2. put animal up for adoption.
• 3. If owner comes give them the animal.

Adoption

• Help people choose a pet to fit their lifestyles.
• Educate new pet owners on how to take care of
  their animal(s)
• All animals over 8 weeks are fixed before leaving
  The Humane Society.

How you can help

• You can help by reporting un-grateful owners
  abusing/hurting their animals.
• You can help by donating supplies or money.
• You can also volunteer your time and help the
  Humane Society.

We will make a difference

• We as a school will make a difference by
  delivering our donations to the Calgary Humane
  society.

  Humane Society.
