PTA Committee Information
AWARDS AND GRANTS / LEGISLATIVE Awards and
Grants This committee researches opportunities
to obtain grant funding and/or gain awards and
recognition through State and National
PTA. Legislative This committee communicates
National and State PTA initiatives to the PTA
Board and advocates for the children of Long
Creek Elementary. BEAUTIFICATION / BULLETIN
BOARD Beautification This committee helps
maintain the basic landscaping and care of school
grounds, and coordinates "Beautification Days" as
needed. Bulletin Board This committee updates
the bulletin board in the school lobby with
current information pertaining to the PTA and
Long Creek in general. This committee is also
responsible for updating the marquee on the front
lawn. BOOKFAIR R CHAIR FILLED This committee
plans and coordinates the fall and spring book
fairs. The main responsibility will be to help
set-up and take down the fair as well as monitor
classes and the public during the hours of the
fair. COMMUNITY SPONSORS This committee will
identify community resources that may help meet
the needs of various PTA committees and will
partner with local businesses in order to obtain
sponsorships and build ties with the Long Creek
area (e.g., honor roll incentives presented at
quarterly ceremonies). FAMILY FOCUS This
committee plans and coordinates family oriented
events and functions such as Fall and Spring
Family Nights.
FUND-RAISING This committee plans and coordinates
all fund-raising activities at the school after
approval from the PTA Board. This may involve
distributing materials to students and parents
regarding fund-raising opportunities and
soliciting support for school nights at local
restaurants. HEALTH AND SAFETY R CHAIR
FILLED This committee works with the school staff
to stock the health room with supplies, assist
the school nurse with vision screenings as
needed, and help with fingerprinting first
graders. PROGRAMS / PUBLICITY Programs This
committee coordinates special programs as
determined by school administration and within
guidelines established by the PTA. This may
include assisting with the Girls on the Run
program hosted by Long Creek, helping to plan the
end-of-grade celebrations and fifth grade end-
of-year events, and participating in Honor Roll
and perfect attendance recognition
programs. Publicity This committee works with
school administration as well as the PTA Board to
inform the local press, cable news, and CMS of
current and upcoming events and special
recognitions. REFLECTIONS This committee will
administer the annual NC State's Reflections
contest at Long Creek. This committee should pay
special attention to mandated requirements,
official rules and strict deadlines. This
contest celebrates students talents through art
(dance, music story, poetry, photography and
video).
RETAIL INCENTIVES R CHAIR FILLED This committee
promotes the value and use of corporate sponsored
educational programs such as Box Tops for
Education, Campbell's Soup labels, retail/grocery
store discount cards and My Coke Rewards. ROOM
PARENTS R CHAIR FILLED This committee works
closely with the principal and teachers to plan
and organize classroom celebrations and other
activities. This committee will guide parents
who sign up to assist in their child's classroom
and ensure that everyone is working within CMS
Policies and Guidelines. This committee will
serve as the main contact for teachers and their
classroom needs. SCHOOL SPIRIT This committee
plans and coordinates activities that promote
school spirit both internally and externally.
This committee will work with the PE teacher to
coordinate Field Day activities. STAFF
APPRECIATION This committee plans and coordinates
recognition events for the staff throughout the
year. This committee will help with events
planned during the annual Staff Appreciation Week
and will work with school administration to
coordinate various school functions and events
such as the Fred Lee Carr awards
ceremonies. WEB-SITE ADMIN R CHAIR FILLED This
committee regularly updates the Long Creek
Elementary PTA website with current information
such as PTA Board Members, fundraiser
information, PTA reports and corporate
sponsorship recognition.
