NCE Parent Teacher Organization
North Columbia Elementary PTO welcomes new and
returning parents to a wonderful 2007-2008 school
year. This promises to be an exciting year for
the parents and students alike. The PTO is the
Parent Teacher Organization. We are parents just
like you who volunteer our time to enhance the
educational experience of every child in our
school. By joining PTO you are simply showing
support for your child's school. If you have a
desire to be involved in your child's school,
then you are more than qualified to be a PTO
member/volunteer. If you have any questions or
would like more information on North Columbia
Elementary PTO, please contact me or any one of

APPRECIATIONS A very special Thank you
goes out to the Garretts with Overhead Door of
August and Mark Burch with Window World for
supplying the funds and Mr. Benny Dorn for
cooking the homemade BBQ meal that everyone
enjoyed at the PTO meeting. Their support of
North Columbia and Mr. Bennys willingness to
serve is appreciated. We would like to also
thank Marie Stewart and Marianne Bradford for
their hard work on the Hospitality committee.
As Christmas gets closer so does the need for
Santas helpers. We will kick off the Santa Shop
soon and we appreciate all the help we can get.
We still need volunteers. Thanks again ladies
for volunteering. We cant be successful without
help by the parents and the school faculty.
LETTER FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT September has
been a great month. The Box Top program and
competition has been a lot of fun and continues
to grow. The Jaxco kickoff went smoothly and
many of our children have won some unique stuffed
animals. Parents dont stop there. We
still need parents to enroll your bonus cards
with Kroger and Food Lion. That is easy money
for the school. Remember to keep sending in those
Box Tops for Education. As Christmas gets

PTO MEMBERSHIP Although the Member turn-out
for the most recent PTO dinner wasnt as large in
numbers as we expected, it didnt stop any of us
from having a good time. The food was
out-of-this-world and we got some important
business cleared up. If for some reason you
couldnt make the meeting, don t worry. There
will be others. If you havent joined, its not
to late. The fall carnival is coming up
fast. If you have not been contacted and you
have the time to help run the concession, email
us and let us know.

Tell us what you think! ? There are several new
teachers in our school. Some of the teachers are
from other schools and some are just starting
out. If you had a chance to give them some advice
or pointers, what would you say? (I wonder who
the teachers are?) ? Pre-K - My advice to new
teachers at NCE is to support our PTO in as many
ways as possible since the PTO helps our students
and teachers in so many ways! ? Kindergarten -
To the new teachers I would say..."Be flexible
and don't stress!" To those coming from other
schools I would like to know what worked well at
their school so maybe we could try it here. ?
4th Grade - Your number one priority is the
children! Make sure you have a relationship with
the parents and work together so their child will
be successful!  Keep the communication open.  Be
positive towards the children. Everyone improves
with praise! Show excitement in your lessons and
the children will be excited to learn. You never
know what a child is dealing with so treat them
with respect and love. It may be the only time
they receive the encouragement.  Remember you are
the one that can make a difference!  Children
will NEVER forget what you did for them and that
is the reward of being a teacher!!! ? 5th Grade
- Advice for new faculty members I would advise
the new teachers to focus on the children in
their classrooms and everything else will fall
into place. I would also stress to them to ASK
FOR HELP when needed. We are all delighted to
have our new teachers here and are ready and
willing to lend a helping hand to each and every
one of them. ) Thanks for asking for my
input---and a big thanks for all the great work
you all are doing with NCE's PTO!!!!

The Sonic Drive-in, Tony Romas, Brusters Ice
Cream And Chic-Fil-A provided the free food
coupons to go out to all new members.
The Coca Cola Company has once again come through
and donated the use of the coke cart as well as
the drinks for our upcoming Fall carnival!
Krogers Earning-Plus-Learning program has
kicked off. The school is now registered in one
of the easiest fundraisers available!
Food Lions Lion Shop Share program in
online. This is another no hassle free
fundraiser parents can use to support the school!

Adventure Crossing and Putt Putt continues to
provide free coupons for our exceptional students
who have excelled above all others
Adventure Crossing
JAXCO has provided us with an exceptional catalog
of merchandises to start our first major
fundraiser.
Rhineharts Oyster Bar has continued the
tradition of supporting our school. They will be
providing a meal to the faculty on 6 December in
addition to donating 80 Barney Bucks!!
Many companies have joined into the Box Tops for
Education program. We have started the class
competition in all grades to assist in obtaining
easy money for the school.

Wisteria Hill Plantation has some exciting events
planned for our Fall Carnival in October!
Enterprise Rental has donated an amount of cash
to the school!
Circle K has joined the team and volunteered to
give some merchandise and fuel coupons to the
school!
Augusta Tile Center was Generous in their
donation. That donated a very good looking bird
bath.
We are going to continue collecting Tyson box
tops and bag coupons as well. If Parents
purchase these products send them in and we will
get cash to the school.
