Health Insurance Plans
  • New employees are eligible for health insurance
    benefits the first day of the month following 30
    days of employment, or at annual open enrollment.
  • Upon retirement, health insurance and some other
    benefits are eligible for continuation.
  • Preventative Care / Wellness benefits provided
    at no charge under both ARHealth ARHealth HD PPO

ARHealth Choice of Health Advantage or NovaSys
Health
Offers wide range of healthcare services. Choice
of two networks at specific monthly rates. Does
not require primary care physician or referrals
for specialist services.

ARHealth HD PPO NovaSys Health Network
High deductible plan with co-insurance after
deductible is met. Offered by NovaSys Health.
Does not require members to have Primary Care
Physician. Participation in Health Savings
Account is optional (based on individual
eligibility).

Health Savings Account (HSA)Optional under
ARHealth HD PPO plan
  • Pre-taxed contributions are held and earn
    interest tax-free in separate savings account to
    be used tax-free for qualified medical expenses.
  • Unused balance rolls over to next plan year.
    Money must be in account before it can be used
    (unlike MFSA).
  • DataPath Administrative Services is administrator
    for HSA.

Health Risk Assessment (HRA)
  • Available for employees and their spouses that
    are covered under a state health plan.
  • Free, totally confidential assessment of health
    risk factors.
  • Go to www.ARBenefits.org or 1-800-763-4674 to
    complete assessment.
  • Health plan participants (employees and covered
    spouses only) will receive a discount on health
    insurance rates for completion of assessment.
  • Employee participation reduces premium by 10 per
    month and an additional 10 a month for
    completion by a covered spouse plus possibly an
    additional 10 discount based on health score.

Sick Leave
  • Any employee who works a minimum of 1000 hours
    per year in a regular salary position accrues
    sick leave
  • Sick leave accrues at the rate of one (1) day for
    each completed month of service
  • Military Department Firefighters accrue at the
    rate of one (1) day and four (4) hours for each
    completed month of service.

Donor Leave
  • Full-time employees serving as human organ
    donors are eligible for paid leave up to thirty
    (30) working days per calendar year, and up to
    seven (7) working days per calendar year for bone
    marrow donors.

Maternity Leave
  • An employee may elect to take maternity leave
    without pay without exhausting accumulated sick
    and annual leave
  • Maternity leave runs concurrently with FMLA

Family and Medical Leave Act
  • The Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993
  • entitles eligible employees to a total of
  • twelve (12) workweeks of unpaid leave during
  • a 12-month period
  • For the serious illness of the employee
  • For the serious illness of family member
  • For the birth or adoption of a child

  • Eligibility Requirements
  • Must have worked for a year and a minimum of 1250
  • Accrued/unused annual/sick leave is used
    concurrently with FMLA leave
  • Requires physician certification
  • Son or daughter must be under 18 years of age, or
    any age if incapable of self-care

Catastrophic Leave Bank Program
  • Employees voluntarily donate annual and sick
    leave
  • Eligible employees who exhaust their annual and
    sick leave due to catastrophic illness of
    themselves or family members may be eligible to
    receive paid leave up to 6 months
  • Employees must have at least 80 hours of accrued,
    unused annual or sick leave at the onset of the
    catastrophic illness to be eligible Agency
    director may waive 80-hour requirement under
    certain circumstances.

Leave Without Pay
  • Employees exhausting paid leave benefits may
    be eligible to
  • receive up to six (6) month increments of leave
    without pay at the
  • Agency Directors or
  • Institution Heads discretion.

Educational Leave
  • A full-time employee who is given out-service
  • training may be conditionally granted education
  • leave by the Agency Director
  • Employee must stay with state for at least twice
    the length of leave taken, or repay associated
    costs
  • All benefit accrual rights retained
  • Leave may be paid at an agreed rate
  • Educational leave funds must be specifically
    appropriated by legislature

Military Leave
  • Full-time employees who are members of the the
    National Guard or any of the reserve branches of
    the US Armed Forces are granted paid leave at the
    rate of fifteen (15) working days per calendar
    year, plus necessary travel time for annual
    training purposes.
  • For emergencies declared by the President or
    Governor, an additional thirty (30) days per
    calendar year may be granted.

Emergency and Rescue Services Leave
  • Full-time employees who are members of the the
    Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol or the Coast
    Guard Auxiliary are eligible for paid leave up to
    fifteen (15) working days per calendar year, for
    training programs and/or emergency and rescue
    services.

Court and Jury Leave
  • An employee who serves as a juror or is
    subpoenaed as a witness to give a deposition in a
    court or hearing is entitled to receive normal
    and full compensation in addition to any fees
    paid for such service

Disaster Leave
  • Employees who are trained certified disaster
    service
  • volunteers for the American Red Cross may take
    up
  • to fifteen (15) paid days per year with the
    consent
  • of the Agency Director to participate in
    specialized
  • disaster relief.
  • Granted for disasters in Arkansas and
  • contiguous states
  • Must be requested by American Red Cross
