When to Test for PC PS?

• Testing for Protein C and Protein S (Vitamin K
  dependent proteins) activity and antigen must not
  be performed while the patient is hospitalized
  with a thrombotic event (consumption) or when the
  patient is receiving warfarin (Vitamin K
  antagonist). Both situations may lead to falsely
  low activity and/or antigen values and therefore
  may result in a misdiagnosis of an inherited
  thrombophilia.
