  • Shiran Weber

2
You Will Learn
  • About various types of tea
  • Why you should drink them
  • How to prepare them
  • Why one should drink loose leaf tea rather than
    teabag tea

3
Camellia sinensis
  • All regular tea is made from this plant
  • Made from steeping the leaves, buds, or twigs in
    hot water for several minutes
  • 4 basic types
  • Black tea, oolong tea, green tea, and white tea

4
Black Teas
  • Most heavily processed tea, goes through the
    highest amount of oxidation
  • Contains the highest amount of caffeine (20 of a
    cup of coffee)
  • Great for preventing heart disease and stroke,
    lowering blood pressure and cholesterol
  • Steep about 3-4 minutes

5
Oolong Tea
  • Second-most processed tea
  • 10-15 percent of the caffeine of coffee
  • Good for digestion, weight loss (speeds up
    metabolism), skin, and teeth.
  • Steep about 3-4 minutes

6
Green Tea
  • Tea that has gone through minimal oxidation
  • Usually contains about 5-10 of the caffeine of
    coffee
  • Polyphenols may help prevent cancer. Boosts
immune system and regulates blood sugar levels
  • Steep in less than boiling water for about 1-2
    minutes

7
White Teas
  • Least processed of the teas, plucked as baby tea
    leaves, then dried
  • Contains the least amount of caffeine out of all
    the teas (1-2)
  • Has the most antioxidants out of any of the teas
  • Great for skin, anti-aging properties, may help
    prevent cancer

8
The Real Gist
  • Tea is the second-most consumed beverage in the
    world (second only to water)
  • Tea has been shown, for thousands of years, to
help many ailments that affect mankind
  • Real tea drinkers will almost never drink from a
teabag. Teabag teas are considered bottom
barrel teas and leave a distinct papery taste
that is an affront to true tea flavor.
