SMSS Goal Objectives
  • To establish a national network of state
    chapters to complete the work of national ASAM at
    the local level, thus delivering to the bedside,
    and to local medical and lay communities, the
    science, spirit and services that define the
    practice of addiction medicine.
  • Create a Medical Specialty Society in each state
    education
  • Promote addiction treatment, as other specialty
    societies do
  • Make addiction medicine part of the mainstream in
    each state

Councils in ASAM By-Laws
  • Councils are organizational structures of the
    Society that carry out the Mission of the Society
    and oversee the execution of the strategies and
    the attainment of the operational objectives
    determined by the Board. Councils are chaired by
    a member of the Board and are composed of members
    of the Society and its Board..
  • ..Councils of the Society and Council
    Subcommittees shall receive staff support from
    the Society
  •     Chapters Council Chair is a current or past
    chair of a chapter of ASAM, who becomes an
    ex-officio, non-voting member of the Board.
