September Newsletter Ms Soransons Class
Hi Parents - These past 20 days we have been
making friends, perfecting routines that help
us learn, learning names and getting into the
groove of the new school year. Read on for what
is planned for the next 20 fun days of
Kindergarten
Language Arts Every day we will read books that
help us think and understand that reading is
about thinking. We will read books that have
rhyming words and then work with these words
and pictures. We will continue to build our
understandings about letters, words and
sentences using real text and our own writing.
In Writers Workshop we will focus on telling a
story with pictures, stretching out words to
use a symbol for each sound and to continue to
see ourselves as writers
ALL ABOUT ME is our integrated studies unit
this Quarter. Students will be involved in
activities that enable them to develop the
following ideas - How are we alike and
different? What makes you special? How is your
family special?
Math During math we will sort objects using an
attribute, count forwards and backwards to 20,
play SNAP with numbers 0 20 to recognize the
numerals 0-20, identify shapes, create patterns
and also learn about symmetry.

• Reminders
• No Kindergarten students are allowed to be
  dropped at school before 730 am. The only
  exception would be students who arrive early on
  the school bus.
• Please help your child remember to wear sneakers
  on P.E days (even days)
