President Harold J. Raveché welcomed a
standing-room only crowd to the dedication
ceremony for the Vincent A. Rocco Technology
Center on Friday, February 11, 2000. More than
70 guests -- including alumni, family, faculty
members, local government officials, and other
guests -- were in attendance at the event.

The Center, named in memory of the late Vincent
Rocco (trustee and alumnus of Stevens), is home
to a number of the Institutes research
initiatives.

Opening remarks for the dedication were made by
Mr. Lawrence T. Babbio, Jr. 66, alumnus and
chairman of the Stevens Board of Trustees, and
Dr. George P. Korfiatis, director of the Center
for Environmental Engineering.

The program included personal remarks from the
Rocco family. Celeste Carpiano, sister of Dr.
Rocco, and Mary Rocco, his widow, were on hand to
speak on behalf of the family.

Upon concluding the program, guests at the event
joined the Rocco family and Stevens
representatives outside the facility to unveil
the sign for the building. Tours of the center
were available following the event.
