The Early Years
  • Born December 10, 1815 in London, England
  • She never knew her father , Lord Byron the famous
    poet.
  • Although most rich girls in those days did not go
    to school , Adas mother expected her to get a
    good education.

Flyology
  • Her governess read Ada the Greek myth of Daedalus
    and Icarus.
  • Ada decided she could make a machine that would
    help her fly.
  • She called her idea Flyology.
  • Ada spent the next year doing experiments with
    wings and trying to fly.
  • Her mother fired the governess.

Adas Contribution
  • Ada became known as a math genius.
  • When Ada was 18 , she first saw Charles Babbages
    Difference Engine. It could make mathematical
    calculations.
  • Ada decided to work with Babbage to help build
    his Analytical Engine.
  • Together they created a machine that could
    perform complicated math tasks.
  • This machine led to the computer.

  • Ada died on November 27 , 1852.
