2Character Test 3 Abram Passes A Brotherly
Love Test
- 7. And there was a strife between the herdmen of
Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle
and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then
in the land. - 8. And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no
strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and
between my herdmen and thy herdmen for we be
brethren. - 9. Is not the whole land before thee? separate
thyself, I pray thee, from me if thou wilt take
the left hand, then I will go to the right or if
thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to
the left.
3- 10. And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all
the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered
every where, before the Lord destroyed Sodom and
Gomorrah, even as the garden of the Lord, like
the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar. - 11. Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan
and Lot journeyed east and they separated
themselves the one from the other. - 12. Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and
Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and
pitched his tent toward Sodom.

- 13 14. And the Lord said unto Abram, after that
Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine
eyes, and look from the place where thou art
northward, and southward, and eastward, and
westward - 15. For all the land which thou seest, to thee
will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. - 16. And I will make thy seed as the dust of the
earth so that if a man can number the dust of
the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered. - 17. Arise, walk through the land in the length
of it and in the breadth of it for I will give
it unto thee. - 18. Then Abram removed his tent, and came and
dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron,
and built there an altar unto the Lord.

- 15 6. And he believed in the Lord and he
counted it to him for righteousness. - 1810. And he said, I will certainly return unto
thee according to the time of life and, lo,
Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard
it in the tent door, which was behind him. - 11. Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well
stricken in age and it ceased to be with Sarah

- 17 1. And when Abram was ninety years old and
nine, Jehovah appeared to Abram, and said unto
him, I am God Almighty. Walk before me, and be
thou perfect. - 2. And I will make my covenant between me and
thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. - 3. And Abram fell on his face. And God talked
with him, saying - 4. As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee,
and thou shalt be the father of a multitude of
nations. - .
11GOD CHANGES ABRAMS NAME TO ABRAHAM
- 5. Neither shall thy name any more be called
Abram, but they name shall be Abraham. For the
father of a multitude of nations have I made
thee. - 6. And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and
I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come
out of thee. - 7. And I will establish my covenant between me
and thee and thy seed after thee, throughout
their generations for an everlasting convenant,
to be a God unto thee and to thy seed after thee

- Gen. 2110. Wherefore she said unto Abraham,
Cast out this handmaid and her son. For the son

and took bread and a bottle of water, and gave it
unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and gave
her the child, and sent her away. And she
departed, and wandered in the wilderness of
Beer-sheba. 15. And the water in the bottle
was spent, and she cast the child under one of
the shrubs. 16. And she went, and sat her down
over against him a good way off, as it were a
bowshot. For she said, Let me not look upon the
death of the child. And she sat over against him,
and lifted up her voice, and wept.
14 17. And God heard the voice of the lad. And the
angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and
said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? Fear not.
For God hath heard the voice of the lad where he
is. 18. Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him
in thy hand. For I will make him a great nation.
19. And God opened her eyes, and she saw a
well of water. And she went, and filled the
bottle with water, and gave the lad drink. 20.
And God was with the lad, and he grew. And he
dwelt in the wilderness, and became, as he grew
up, an archer.

thing unto him for now I know that thou fearest
God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine

- Gods sovereignty had preempted the law of
primogeniture, and selected Isaac through whom to
fulfill His promise, rather than Ishmael, the
eldest, - Now, it will be seen in the case of the birth of
twins, God will exercise His sovereignty and
select the younger Jacob over Esau. - HOW EXTREME AND CAREFUL IS GOD IN PROVIDING THE

become clear as their lives develop. Issac was
