Changing to amount of livestock at agricultural
enterprises(fig.1) and at private sector (fig.2)

• As you can see from the diagram, a decline of
  livestock has taken place during the last decade
  in Ukraine. The situation with regards to the
  porcine and the bird population improved slightly
  in 2006 in comparison with the year before. As a
  result we can see an enhancement of the bird
  population by 7 million and respectively pigs by
  400 thousand.
• Moreover we can attribute the increase to
  the following elements an increase of
  investments in these fields of animal husbandry
  and the purchase price of row material.
  Unfortunately the number of livestock continues
  to regress in 2006 not only in agricultural
  enterprises but also in the private sector. This
  situation is to be put on the account of

1.The increase of expenditure for the production
of milk because of the high petroleum
prices. 2.The low purchase prices. 3.The
growing older of the population in the rural
areas.

• The government is looking for ways to remedy this
  situation.
• In Ukraine they are breeding now new sorts of
  cattle and at the same time they are conserving
  the aboriginal breeds. Amongst them are the
