5WOE
6 Woe to the Assyrian, the rod of my anger, in
whose hand is the club of my wrath!
(Isaiah 10 5) I have seen your detestable acts
on the hills and in the fields. Woe to you, O
Jerusalem! How long will you be unclean?
(Jeremiah 13 27)
7 Woe to the shepherds of Israel who only take
care of themselves! Should not shepherds take
care of the flock? (Ezekiel 34 2) Woe to
the worthless shepherd, who deserts the flock!
May the sword strike his arm and his right eye!
May his arm be completely withered, his right eye
totally blinded! (Zechariah 11 17)
8 Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a
tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of
garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the
love of God. You should have practiced the latter
without leaving the former undone. (Luke
11 42) Woe to you, teachers of the law and
Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of
your spicesmint, dill and cummin. But you have
neglected the more important matters of the
lawjustice, mercy and faithfulness. You should
have practiced the latter, without neglecting the
former. You blind guides! You strain out a gnat
but swallow a camel. (Matt. 23 23, 24)
9 Woe to you, because you are like unmarked
graves, which men walk over without knowing
it. (Luke 11 44) Anyone out in the open who
touches someone who has been killed with a sword
or someone who has died a natural death, or
anyone who touches a human bone or a grave, will
be unclean for seven days. (Numbers 19
16)
