11The theory-practice gap has been the subject of
much debate with Nursing
- Students spend months in the classroom before
their first exposure to clinical practice. - The teacher, nursing student and supervisor meet
for evaluation twice during the practice.
To shrink the gap between theory and practice
- During the intensive week the nursing student,
teacher and supervisor nurse the patients
together. At the end of each day they reflect on
the various learning situations.
12The effect of intensive week, focus on learning
to take blood pressure
- The focus of my postgraduate research is to
describe the teaching of blood pressure
measurement closer to clinical practice learning
so as to eradicate the theory-practice gap in
student learning. - It is important to find out what the effect of
intensive week is.
13- The ultimate aim of the study is to find out if
the teaching and learning strategy in question
can be utilized in the development of a strategy
for a better integration of theory and practice
in nursing - Bridging theory and practice, obtaining optimal
benefit from the limited resources and responding
to changes in health care require co-operation
and appropriate division of responsibilities
between education and working life.
