(B.A.C.B.) Mission Statement
- The B.A.C.B.s mission is to develop, promote,
and implement a national and international
certification program for behavior analyst
practitioners. The BACB has established uniform
content, standards, and criteria for the
credentialing process that are designed to meet - The legal standards established through state,
federal and case law - The accepted standards for national certification
programs and - The "best practice" and ethical standards of the
behavior analysis profession. The BACB enjoys
the support of the Association for Behavior
Analysis International.

5B.C.A.B.A. Exam Information
- Examination window only occurs for 2 weeks 3
times a year. Typically in March, August
November. - Computer-based test taken at Pearson VUE (there
is one located in Reno) - The B.C.A.B.A. exam is a 4-hours and consists of
132 questions.
6Satellite Program Overview
- The Satellite Associate Behavior Analyst
Certificate Program, consists of 9 undergraduate
credits (3 courses) in Applied Behavior Analysis. - The curriculum focuses on principles of behavior,
ethical practice guidelines, functional
assessment and management of challenging
behavior, strategies for enhancing motivation and
determining students preferences, effective
teaching practices, and procedures for data
collection, analysis and program effectiveness
evaluation. - This curriculum has been pre-approved by the BACB
as meeting the didactic course requirements for
Certification as an Associate Behavior Analyst.

- The Satellite Programs are directed by Dr. Linda
Hayes, who works in conjunction with Drs. Ramona
Houmanfar and Mark Alavosius, serving as
Directors of Student and Faculty Affairs for the

8Admission Eligibility
- Applicants must have a high school diploma. It is
assumed that applicants to the Certificate
Program have, are in the midst of, or are
planning to obtain a Bachelors Degree as, in
addition to the Certificate Program of Study, - A Bachelors Degree is required for Certification
as an Associate Behavior Analyst.
9Curriculum PSY 205
- PSY 205 Elementary Analysis of Behavior (3
credits) - This course covers the basic premises, concepts,
principles, and procedures of behavior analytic
psychology. Concepts and principles include
stimulus control, stimulus generalization,
reinforcement, extinction, and establishing
operations. Procedures include shaping, chaining,
priming, intermittent reinforcement and
differential reinforcement of other behavior - Offered Spring Semester 2007
10Curriculum PSY 412
- PSY 412 Principles of Psychological Assessment (
3 credits) - This course covers strategies and methods for
assessing students behavioral repertoires, their
preferences for particular things and activities,
as well as the conditions responsible for their
challenging behaviors. It also includes
procedures for data collection and analysis, for
determining the effectiveness of interventions,
as well as ethical guidelines for the practice of
the analysis of behavior. - Offered Summer Semester 2007

- PSY 407 Applied Behavior Analysis (3 credits)
- This course covers strategies and methods for
teaching new behaviors, strengthening appropriate
and weakening inappropriate behavior, changing
the conditions under which behavior occurs, as
well is increasing motivation, endurance and self

13Satisfactory Academic Performance
- Board certification requires completion of course
is with a B or higher grade. - Courses that are completed with a grade lower
than B may be repeated if arrangements are made
between the sponsor and UNR.
14Expectations Responsibilities of Students
- Students are expected to
- attend class and complete all assignments in
accordance with the expectations established by
their instructors and programs of study. - conduct themselves in the classroom in a manner
which contributes to a positive learning
environment for all. - familiarize themselves with relevant university
policies and procedures - ask questions and seek clarification, direction
and guidance on class assignment, university
policies, or procedure which are unclear. - It is the students responsibility to
- contribute to the maintenance of a cohort
environment conducive to intellectual curiosity,

affect satisfactory progress toward a degree.
