Fun Facts
  • Did you know? ...
  • Teeth are made of the hardest substance in the
    body - enamel.
  • Dogs have 42 teeth.
  • Cats have 30 teeth.

Plaque
  • Plaque is a clear film that sticks to your teeth.
The film itself might not sound so bad, but it's
very sticky, and it acts like a magnet for
    bacteria and sugar.

4
Cavities
  • A cavity develops when a tooth decays or breaks
down. A cavity is a hole that can grow bigger and
deeper over time. If you have a cavity, it's
    important to get it repaired.

5
What Makes Cavities?
  • Blame plaque. That's a sticky, slimy substance
made up mostly of the germs that cause tooth
decay. The bacteria in your mouth make acids so
when plaque clings to your teeth, the acids can
eat away at the outermost layer of the tooth,
    called the enamel.

Take Care of Your Teeth
  • Brush your teeth in the morning and at night.
  • Use a small toothbrush with a tiny amount of
    fluoride toothpaste.
  • Check in the mirror to clean your teeth properly.

7
Take Care of Your Teeth
  • It's OK to eat sweets - but only every now and
again, and make sure you brush your teeth after
    eating them.
  • Snack on fruit, cheese and water.
  • Try not to drink lots of fizzy drinks (soda)-
they're EXTRA bad for your teeth!

8
Take Care of Your Teeth
  • Floss your teeth after brushing at least two
    times a day.
  • See your dentist for a check up twice a year.

What happens if you dont ?
  • If you don't take care of your teeth, it won't be
long before cavities and unhealthy gums make your
mouth very, very sore. Eating meals will be
difficult. And you won't feel like smiling so
    much.

Ouch!

  • Here are some of things people used to clean
    their teeth.
