7Catalyst programme
- Catalyst comprises four major sub-programmes
which will support further education (FE)
providers in taking a structured approach to the
development of leaders and managers and in
ensuring teachers, tutors and trainers keep their
vocational and subject specialist skills
up-to-date. This will be achieved by building
strong relationships between FE sector employers
and businesses.

9Pass on Your Skills
- First phase of the programme and 219 people have
successfully completed the PTLLS qualification - Accessible database of 777 vocational experts
with engineering and health and social care
experience - to-date 4 people have now obtained
jobs in the sector - New national advertising campaign for future
teachers, trainers tutors or assessors, in
vocational areas- Health and social care,
engineering, technology and manufacturing,
Science and maths, Retail and commercial services
including catering health and beauty and
hospitality, literacy and numeracy. - The second phase of pass on Your Skills will be
launched at the end of March aiming to recruit
300 new entrants by March 2010.
10Business interchange
- The first phase of Business Interchange enabled
527 placements to take place in funded industrial
up-dating activities last year. - New design went live in January 2009. Based on
Self Regulation and working in partnership with
Sector Skills Councils. - Our aim is to register 300 participants by 31
March 2009, with a total of 1,400 Business
Interchanges having taken place by March 2010. - All placements agreed by 31 March 2009 attract a
payment for completed outputs of 1000 per
participant.
11Make a Difference
- National campaign to attract and develop 210
graduate calibre individuals into the sector. - Current model recruits individuals to a talent
pool and encourages the sector to include
candidates in their recruitment process. - Currently re-designing the programme. New model
aims to recruit to vacancy and support each
providers recruitment methods. - Make a Difference adds value to all Management
Recruitment by- - advertising these live vacancies to
candidates outside of the sector - providing assessment centre support to
providers, where requested - Providing a fully funded 12-month leadership
development programme to successful candidates. - To-date 84 FE providers are registered with 121
high quality candidates
12Business Talent
- We are currently working in partnership with LSIS
and we are developing a web based recruitment
resource to encourage the sector to recruit to
senior posts from outside of the sector as well
as from inside the sector. This has been based
on the paper based resource developed by LLUK and
when completed will be available on the catalyst
and LSIS websites
