2Helsinki School of Economics (HSE) Established in
1911, HSE is the largest and leading business
school in Finland. It provides the most diverse
environment for world-class study and research in
business subjects and an innovative community of
approximately 4,500 students and over 400
researchers, teachers and service staff. In 2006,
the HSE awarded 20 Doctorates, 346 MSc degrees
and 403 MBA degrees. There were over 2,500 people
studying on the HSEs Open University courses.
The annual budget is 38.6 million, of which 37
from external funding. Helsinki University of
Technology (TKK) TKK is the leading university of
technology in Finland. The university has 4
faculties with over 12,000 students studying to
become engineers, architects and landscape
architects. In 2006, the university awarded 1,012
Master's degrees and 158 Doctorates. Graduates
from TKK account for about 42 of all technology
graduates in Finland, and 60 of Doctors in
technology. TKK had about 1,100 foreign students,
of whom 71 graduated with a Master's degree and
29 with a Doctorate. The annual budget of the
university is 225 million, of which 43 is
external funding. The university has 3,300 staff,
of whom 250 are professors. TKK celebrates its
centenary in 2008. University of Art and Design
Helsinki (TAIK) The University of Art and Design
Helsinki is an international university
specialising in design, audiovisual
communication, art education and art. Established
in 1871, it is the largest art and design
university in the Nordic countries and one of the
most prestigious in the world. The university has
six schools with 1,900 students. In 2006, the
university awarded 235 Master's degrees and 10
Doctorates. The share of foreign students was
18.5. The annual budget is 35 million, of which
7 million is external funding. The university has
450 staff.
