14Returning to Learning
- Many students worry about returning to a learning
situation after many years absence - We are aware of this problem and actively assist
you to become comfortable with learning
15Preparation
- Preparation is the key to success in learning
- Your modules are designed so that you receive
materials in advance of the lecture, and this is
for you to familiarise yourself with the subject
before the lecturer arrives
16Learning vs Teaching
- Modules will be presented and assessed in
different ways - The first thing you will notice is that your
tutor respects your existing knowledge and will
endeavour to build upon your professional
experience - The emphasis is upon your learning rather than
upon teaching
17Learning vs Teaching
- This means that you will be expected to discuss
rather than listen, do rather than receive
information - In this way you learn more than simply listening
and taking notes - You may not be used to this, but at university
level it is more effective
18Learning vs Teaching
