18Using our Specialism.
- Specialist Status (build on existing University
of Worcester links ICT opportunities, feeder
schools) - To enhance Initial Teacher Training through the
effective use of camera technology - To continue the commitment to focus on the
trainee.
- Example..
- 20 young adults around the edge of a sports hall
became a daunting experience for pupils. - To use camera technology in a practical way
-
19Phases 1 2 of 3 complete
- Phase 1
- Installation of camera technology
- Implement with UCW Initial Teacher Trainees
- Phase 2
- Interactive radio headset
- Additional locations
- Support for ALL PE trainees each Monday
- Self Review
20Typical Session
- Lesson focus negotiated with trainee teachers
- College tutor teaches lesson using interactive
radio microphone, trainees observe - Teacher chairs discussion and interacts with
college tutor by asking questions - College tutor returns to review the lesson
21Student feedback on camera use key features
- ..enabled us to discuss issues as they arose
rather than at the end of the session when we
probably wouldnt have remembered - Allowed us to focus on the actions of the
teacher and the behaviour of the pupils up close - We were all focused on one aspect, rather than
all of us seeing the lesson from a different
perspective depending on where we sat
22Rank Order Of Influence (total scores)
23 We have learned
- Collaboration requires commitment from people
- Financial investment necessary to get started
- Hardware needs maintenance
- Succession in terms of knowledge matters
- Innovative thinking can impact
- Innovative thinking can spread
24Phase 3
- Video streaming across the net
- Tutor observes, evaluates and carries out
collaborative review with trainee from University
office (Global) - Video archives stored on web-site for future
reference - Continuing Professional Development (LA)
25Spin off benefits
- Combined classes releases one teacher to observe
via camera technology - School mentor observes trainee teacher removing
halo effect - Enhance performance/coaching/evaluative skills
within physical education - CPD for involved staff
- Influence on ICT expectation whole school
