My experience

• Student since 2001, two masters degrees
• Member of the Senate of BUTE since 2006
• Participated in the institution review of BUTE
• Panel member of HAC External Evaluation 2008
• Limited scope, just an opinion

• Asked 20 students in the campus garden
• Do you know HAC?
• Did you hear about university ranking of HVG? (9

Institution review

• One review every 10 years
• Change
• Lack of foreign panel members
• Sometimes too formal problem maybe specific to
  big, old universities
• Recommendations are they necessary?

• Some no go decisions
• Minister can overrule
• Small country small scientific society
• Institution competition vs. unbiased decisions
