Do and Donts - Internet
  • Dont post generic ads, post specific jobs
  • Do mine only as much data as you can work
  • Dont let the mining part consume your day
  • Do try it based on a few skills sets at a time
  • Dont give up after trying it once
  • Do use industry buzzwords or technical
    introductions in the first paragraph of postings
  • Dont use trite, standard introductions, or long
    summaries of your companys history
  • Dont forget the telephone still works and use it
    to continue conversations after initial contact.

    enticing

Screening Candidates on email
  • You need to screen candidates IN not OUT.
  • Ask questions that are specific and can be
    answered with a sentence.
  • If email conversations are going on more than 3
    days, then switch to phone to speed up process.
  • Dont discuss salary over email.
  • When answering questions that might screen out a
    candidate, then switch to phone.
  • Provide interesting links to company website,
    press releases, articles where company is
    referenced, stock price, etc.
  • Always list ALL forms of communication for you to
    be contacted in every message(signature).

  • Other candidates or incumbents history
  • Specific managers name unless setting up
    interview
  • Make offers or trial close a person unless you
    want a contingent acceptance documented

Screening Question Format
  • Dont list too many questions to answer at one
    time
  • Dont send attachment forms
  • Dont expect essay answers
  • Dont ask for referral candidates at end of
    questions, wait for phone call to ask or rapport
    has been established
  • Make sure your questions and comments are
    non-harassing, non-threatening, honest, and
    conciseremember, it is documented forever
