    topic

7
Cambridge Scientific Abstracts
8
Ebsco databases
9
More Databases in Ebsco
10
WilsonWeb databases
Search one or more individually or all
simultaneously through WilsonWebs Omni File
Full Text Mega
11
In that database, look for a section entitled
Thesaurus, Headings, Descriptors or MeSH Database
12
Type your disease/condition/issue into the Browse
or Search box
13
See if you can add a subheading to narrow your
topic to the epi of X or interventions for X
14
See if you can EXPLODE the termsearch on that
term and more specific variations of that term.
PubMed automatically explodesyou have to tell it
not to!
15
See if you can limit your search results to
articles in which your topic is the major focus
16
Or run separate searches on different topics,
then combine in History
17
Narrow results on Limits or Refine/Revise/Edit
Search pages by adding additional criteria.
Ebsco
PubMed
Cambridge Scientific
WilsonWeb
18
Or search with keywords. Use truncation
wildcard symbols, etc.
19
Consult the Tutorials/Index/ Help/Guide for
truncation wildcard symbols or phrase
searching standards, since these vary.
20
Check access to full-text.Select items to add to
a Master File for later emailing/printing,
saving to file
Called Marked List, Folder or Clipboard
depending on the database
21
Select output mode. Be realistic about cost of
printing email capacity limitations.
DefaultDetailed but all you need is Brief
22

In PubMed, set the Display pull-down to Abstract

In most other databases, an SFX button is your
best bet for access to full-text.

PubMed buttons
