Easy Credit

• Available to almost anyone and therefore led to a
  huge increase in spending that would eventually
  bottom out.

Installment Plan

• possess today and pay tomorrow
• With this idea the once frugal populace quickly
  went into a spending craze buying cars,
  refrigerators, and radios. This absent-minded
  spending accumulated a large amount of debt that
  made way for the Depression.

Overproduction

• The act of producing more than was needed added
  to the under consumption by the American people
  led to a large drop in prices which was
  devastating.

Hoovervilles

• Clusters of small shacks made out of scavenged
  materials by the homeless. These Hoovervilles
  sprang up across the country.

Soup Kitchens

• Public kitchens for the distribution of soup/food
  to the masses of homeless people.

Breadlines

• Lines of hungry people besieged by the depression
  who were waiting to be fed. In the absence of
  substantial government relief programs during
  1932, free food was distributed with private
  funds in some urban centers to large numbers of
  the unemployed.
