Welcome to Junes WRFCA newsletter that brings
you a flavour of some of the media coverage
achieved across the three services and cadets in
the regions. Earlier in the month 266 Squadron
on Whiteladies Road marked the Queens Birthday
with a full Beat Retreat. An interview with
Captain Darren Wolfendale aired on BBC Radio
Bristols Weekend West programme and we saw
coverage on the Bristol Evening Posts website.
20 Cadets Triple Challenge was a great success
and achieved coverage in print, online and on BBC
Radio Somerset.
Please do get in touch with myself or Trimedia
if you have any events, anniversaries or
interesting stories to tell that might benefit
from our public relations campaign in the region.

Bristol. Beating Retreat at the Artillery Ground
in Whiteladies Road featured the Band of the

performs at a number of prestigious military and
civilian functions around the world. The salute
was taken by the Lord Lieutenant of Bristol, Mary
Prior MBE, who is also president of the Bristol
branch of the Army Benevolent Fund. The charity,
which helps soldiers, ex-soldiers and their
families, organised the ceremony, which has its

Truro soldier takes on triple challenge 1010am
Saturday 30th May 2009 A Truro soldier is taking
on three challenges to raise money for forces
charity Help for Heroes. Brian Saxton, together
with six other team mates from 20 Cadet Training
Unit and 43 Wessex Brigade will attempt The
Triple Challenge starting on 3 June. They will
take on three consecutive endurance events the
Exe Descent a 19 mile white water race from
Tiverton to Exeter. The Three Peaks climbing
Great Britains three highest mountains in less
than 24 hours. And a John OGroats to Lands End
cycle challenge where they intend to cover over
900 miles in no more than four days. Captain
Martyn Griffiths, Officer Commanding of the 20
Cadet Training Team, explained The Triple
Challenge has been organised to help support
these two worthy charities at the same time as
testing our strength and endurance. It is
vitally important that charities such as Help for
Heroes and the Army Benevolent Fund receive our
full support they do such magnificent work for
those who been injured whilst fighting for our
country. The team, which trains and supports
the cadet forces across the South West, will be
backed up by cadets and reservists from across
Somerset. The cadets will also help to raise
money for the charities by holding their own
events, including bag packing and car washes.
The team hope to raise over 5000 for both
charities and are almost half-way to their
target. Further donations can be made on
