triggering the Flap Fail Msg). - 4 FSCU-4 already removed, teardown reports not
available yet. - Note too many system monitors trigger the Flap
Fail message not necessarily related to a FSCU
fault - Related Flap Linear Actuator failures after SB
installation undergoing evaluation with Eaton and

- Latest Status
- Root cause not defined yet. Possible causes
undergoing engineering study - Internal accumulator design problem
- Improper installation procedure from production
line (perma-swage connections) - Improper handling during servicing (overtorque)
may be damage charging valve o-ring - Some evidences of oil contamination by small
particles may damage the valve o-ring and lead to
leakage - Embraer is currently performing several testings
and evaluation of field data (removed units). - Double check gates and additional sealing
procedures were implemented in production line. - Production Line target TBD
- Solution availability TBD
13ADS Heating System
- Description ADS (static port) heater fail
- Latest Status
- A few instances of dual static port swapped
(LH/RH) from production were found, affected acft
were checked and corrected - Several cases of Static Port heater fails were
reported. Investigation has identified a design
problem in internal circuitry (short between
Mosfet and Housing). - Harco investigation has shown that units failed
due to anodization layer below required thickness
(3rd party supplier - TGI replaced by RMM). All
RMM units are measured, not all TGI are affected. - Final Solution possible component replacement on
attrition basis, still under Engineering and
Quality evaluation. - P/N will not change, affected batch was already
isolated, replacement of failed units will be
done on attrition basis - Production Line target Not applicable, no P/N

is margin for reduction - If feasible, implementation will be evaluated in
upcoming Avionics load phase 4 scheduled for
2010. - Production Line target TBD
- Solution availability 2010, QT still TBD.
15De-Icing System
- Description De-Icing system failures
- Latest Status
- Low PRV outlet pressure plus heat exchanger
effectiveness causing water separator freezing
(air too cold in the line) and umid air just
before the boots reduces the air flow to the
EFCV. - As a result the system understands the EFCV has
failed and the message D-I Wingstb Fail is
displayed. On the ground, the temperature is not
low enough to freeze the water separator, thus
the problem can not be reproduced. - New valve P/N with increased pressure setting (20
to 22 psi) currently undergoing certification
testings. - EO 500-002532 (042-on) corrected position of
Pressure Switches (Upwards) in production line to

21ATR Issue
- Description Operational questions raised by
Customers - Comments
- ATR is a FADEC function designed to automatically
provide thrust increase in case of an engine
failure during takeoff - TO-Reserve means ATR ON
- During normal takeoff (no engine failure and
throttle levers at TOGA) the thrust delivered by
the engines is TO, TO-Reserve is not available. - ATR, when selected on, will provide extra power
if throttle levers are in MAX, past TOGA notch,
but this is not in accordance with AFM
instructions - If ATR is selected OFF there will be no extra
power available - The Ice Protection systems are not affected by
the ATR function - ATR selected ON and throttle levers in MAX, bleed
for pressurization will shut off (FCSOV commanded
to close), but the Anti-Ice functionality remains
unaltered
